Over the past ten weeks, volunteers from CRG have been venturing over the border to Caerphilly on Thursday mornings, to help with a project organised by Groundwork Wales, as part of their Healthy Rivers programme
The aim has been to clean up as much as possible of the Nant-yr-Aber, from its source at Abertridwr, to where it joins the Rhymney near Bedwas.
Judging by the amount of garbage removed — 410 bags of rubbish and approximately 3 tonnes of assorted larger items — it’s been a huge success!
It’s very sad that it was necessary in the first place, but very satisfying to have helped to make such a difference.
And as well as the satisfaction of helping with a really worthwhile project, it’s been great to meet with lots of people from other areas.
